Sunday morning’s warm-up sessions for the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Presented by AMSOIL and AMA Pro National Guard Superbike have been canceled due to fog and poor visibility at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and they may not be rescheduled, according to officials. AMA Pro Racing Race Director David McGrath said he polled approximately six top riders and “at least two dozen” Crew Chiefs and team members on whether it would be feasible to forego rescheduling the warm-ups and simply start with normal pre-race procedures (i.e. sighting lap, warm-up lap and race), and the “consensus,” he said, was it is feasible. As of 9:25 a.m. local time, it was still too foggy for any on-track activities. MotoGP’s warm-up session is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. The weather and how it impacts the MotoGP warm-up session will determine if the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike race starts on schedule at 10:25 a.m. local time.
