AMA Pro Grand National Champion Brad Baker to Race Spanish Flat Track Opener in Valencia, July 9-10

BARCELONA (June 16, 2016)—Factory Harley-Davidson rider Brad “the bullet” Baker, the 2013 AMA Pro Grand National champion, will head to Spain between the Lima Half Mile and the Charlotte Half Mile to ride for the Noyes Camp Kawasaki team in the opening round of the inaugural RFME (Royal Spanish Motorcycling Federation) Copa de Flat Track. The American star will compete Saturday, July 9, on the Valencia quarter-mile oval and the next day in Sunday´s TT event.

The Noyes Camp Racing School, run by Kenny Noyes and On Track Motorsports, promoters of the RFME Copa de Flat Track, is working to increase the popularity of American-style Flat Track racing in Spain. The first race of the all-new Spanish National series will be held under the lights at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit of Valencia. The just-completed oval is an exact replica of California´s famous Lodi Cycle Bowl quarter mile. That, and the fact the series runs under rules basically identical to those of AMA Pro Flat Track GNC2 and on 19-inch tires supplied by Dunlop, should make Grand National #6 feel right at home.

Baker is undefeated in Spain, winning the first Superprestigio Dirt Track of Barcelona in January of 2014 on the eighth-mile Palau Sant Jordi indoor oval and repeating that victory in December of 2015

Brad Baker #6

“I’m really excited to finally race outdoors in Spain on a full-size quarter-mile oval,” Baker said. “This will be my fourth trip to Barcelona, and I’m glad to be able take part in the very first Spanish flat-track National. I’ll be riding a Kawasaki KX450F for fellow American Kenny Noyes’ team. From my experience racing in the Superprestigio, I know there will be a good field of flat-trackers. Iana Petrova (CEO of On Track Motorsports) and Kenny want Spanish flat trackers to gain experience on a variety of tracks, including American-style quarter miles and TTs. I really enjoy racing in Spain, and I’m looking forward to this new challenge.”
