American Cretu Will Compete At The 2012 Macau Grand Prix

Three-time Isle of Man TT competitor Brandon Cretu will make his debut appearance at the 2012 Macau Grand Prix in Macau, China this November. Cretu will compete aboard the C&H Racing Honda CBR1000RR with backing from his TT sponsors, HEL Performance and RevZilla.com. A solid crew will travel with Cretu to Macau to assure he is best prepared to put forth a good performance at the arduous event. Marietta Motorsports owner and Cretu’s 2011 TT crew chief, Craig “Huey” Stewart, will function as crew chief. Former WERA National Endurance Champion and fellow TT racer, Jimmy Vanderhaar will assist in the pits along with former CCS Team Challenge National Champion Dennie Huff, both of which Cretu has had the privilege of being teammates with in the past.

“To say this is a dream come true is an understatement. Competing at the Macau Grand Prix is something that has been years in the making ever since I first competed at the Ulster Grand Prix in 2009 and the Isle of Man TT in 2010. I consider myself extremely fortunate to line up with some of my heroes from road racing on the famous Guia Circuit in Macau. I was lucky enough to travel to Macau in 2011 and work for Splitlath/Redmond Aprilia and their rider, Mark Miller, so I got a chance to see the course up close and personal,” said Cretu.

The Macau Grand Prix is one of the few events that combines car racing with motorcycle racing in a week long festival in Macau, China. For those that don’t know, Macau could be considered the “Las Vegas of Asia” and welcomes this event with open arms every year. It runs through the famous 3.8 mile armco lined Guia Circuit which snakes along the streets of Macau with high rises and casinos dotting the course. Many fans recognize the famous pictures of riders scraping the armco with their leathers when dipping into the turns.

“My main goal and attitude heading into Macau will be to just enjoy the experience and have fun. It is a really deep field so qualifying is obviously a close second on my list but there are a few other competitors that I run a similar pace with at the TT so I feel confident and excited going into the event. I have been studying the course and training quite a bit more lately to make sure I am as best prepared as possible. November cannot come soon enough!” said Cretu.
