Estenson Racing’s Twins Triple Threat Targeted on Texas

PHOENIX – Estenson Racing’s Twins team – Jake Johnson, JD Beach and Kolby Carlile – are ready to get back to American Flat Track action this weekend, Saturday, April 20, at the Texas Half-Mile in Fort Worth, Texas.

The team welcomed the nearly month-long break after the first two rounds followed in quick succession, allowing more time to work on the development of the all-new Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT. Although it was nice to have that time to work, the team is eager to go racing again.

This year marks the third running of the Texas Half-Mile at Texas Motor Speedway, so it’s still a reasonably new venue on the series’ calendar, even for Johnson. The two-time Grand National Champion had a big get-off last year, but has put all of that behind him. Johnson is ready to get back to work and hopefully reap the rewards of the team’s efforts.

As for his teammates, Beach and Carlile, 2019 marks their first year on a Twin at Texas Motor Speedway. Fresh off of his back-to-back MotoAmerica Superbike rounds, Beach is looking forward to a much better round three. Even though the time away wasn’t time off, it was well spent for Beach and he, too, is ready to go racing.

The Texas Half-Mile not only marks Carlile’s first ride on a Twin at the venue, but also his first Production Twins race. The class is an all-new championship in 2019, allowing for production engines only, so there are a lot of unknowns. Carlile is eager to get started this weekend as the 2017 AFT Singles Champion is aiming to launch his campaign for another title.

Jake Johnson — AFT Twins #5:

“The season is about ready to go into full swing starting in Texas. After Atlanta, we realized we had some work to do and the crew has been working hard to make some improvements. Hopefully we’re a little bit closer to where we need to be. We just need to keep pushing for good results and keep gathering data to further improve the bike. With a pretty packed schedule from here on out, we need to work fast and smart.”

JD Beach — AFT Twins #95:

“It looks like I’m going back to Texas! I’m really looking forward to getting round three of the American Flat Track series going. The first two rounds definitely didn’t go the way we had hoped, but I think it’s been good to kind of have a little bit of a break and just kind of reset myself. I know the team has been working really hard on the bikes to try to make improvements. I’m also really looking forward to this weekend because I know American Flat Track is putting a lot of work into the track, as well. I think it’s going to be a great weekend. I can’t wait to get there.”

Kolby Carlile – AFT Twins #136:

“I’m pretty excited to start a new championship [Production Twins]. The premier AFT Twins class has been all about getting some experience, but in Production Twins, I’m really gunning for the number-one plate at the end of the season.

“There are a few riders who have decided to race this class that are pretty well-experienced on the twins, so it won’t be a walk in the park at all, but I’m looking forward to the challenge. I think we’ve got a good package that’s getting better every race. I can’t wait to get to Texas and get rolling.”

The Texas Half-Mile will be streamed live, Saturday, April 20, on FansChoice.TV starting with practice at 3:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Heat races at 5:35 p.m. ET. Opening Ceremonies kick off at 6:50 p.m. ET and the Main Events begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Catch the race on NBCSN, April 28 at 5:00 p.m. ET. For tickets and additional information about the event: http://www.americanflattrack.com/events/ .
