Suzuki Posts Largest 2019 American Flat Track Contingency Package

Total AFT Contingency for 2019 Breaks $2 Million

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 19, 2019) – Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. has announced the largest contingency package for American Flat Track in 2019 to date – a package totaling over $500,000. This lofty addition to the pool now tips AFT’s total contingency to over $2 million.

Suzuki’s contingency for AFT Twins presented by Vance & Hines is substantial, totaling $325,000, and is available to riders of the popular SV650 V-Twin. For AFT’s newly-added AFT Production Twins class, offerings total over $76,000. In AFT Singles, riders competing aboard the company’s RM-Z450 are eligible for $126,000 in payouts. Suzuki-mounted champions of AFT Twins, AFT Production Twins and AFT Singles classes will be eligible for bonuses of $10,000, $7,500 and $5000, respectively.

The contingency pool posted by Suzuki totals $527,750 and represents the largest combined OEM posting for the season.

“Suzuki’s consistent support for American Flat Track competitors who race either their RM-Z450 or the perennial favorite SV650 is a landmark for 2019 AFT competitors,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “AFT is delivering a product that presents value to fans, riders and OEMs alike, and 2019 promises to deliver an even greater spectacle than ever before.”

“We see many motorcycle racers, including MotoAmerica Superbike and MotoGP stars, use American-style flat track training to gain valuable skills,” said Pat Alexander, Race Support Manager for Suzuki. “It is important to Suzuki to support this type of competition in a way that can grow the number of racers and increase involvement with our dealers. We are excited to have so many flat track riders using Suzuki power in their racing endeavors.”

To help AFT riders take home as many contingency dollars as possible, American Flat Track has created online Contingency Guidelines, which are available in the Competitor Information section of AFT’s website and can be accessed via the following links:
