During the unveiling of the 2008 CBR1000RR, American Honda announced that it would begin to make HRC racing kit parts for its CBR models available for purchase through participating Honda dealers for the first time ever. In the past, American Honda only sold HRC kit parts to racers through its racing department and availability was limited, at best. Initially, AMA-Supersport-legal and AMA-Formula-Xtreme-legal parts for the 2007-2008 CBR600RR will be available in time for racers heading to Daytona. Those kits parts will be followed up by HRC racing kit parts for the new CBR1000RR later in 2008. The parts will be available for purchase individually, as sub-kits or as a complete racing kit by anyone. A complete Formula Xtreme kit (which includes many but not all — parts used by the American Honda factory CBR600RRs at the 2007 Daytona 200) will cost around $15,000. The parts are for “closed-course competition use only,” come with no warranty and their use may void the original factory warranty of a CBR600RR. CBR600RR racing kit parts American Honda will initially offer include: Engine Power-up kit (cylinder head gasket, camshafts, valve springs, spark plugs, etc.), $1105.44 A.C. Generator Kit (ACG cover, ACG clamp, rotor, stator and hardware), $3184.12 Transmission Kit (main shaft, gear and bolts), $288.37 Radiator Kit, $588.76 Air Intake Kit (air cleaner element, velocity stacks, etc.), $1658.15 Breather Case Kit, $817.07 Exhaust System Assembly, $2523.27 Electric Kit (wiring harness, sensors, etc.), $781.01 Steering Damper (non-HESD) Assembly, $708.92 Also available will be Showa forks ($2042.64) and a Showa shock ($1766.31), which Showa will service at racetracks for an additional fee. American Honda will also offer Honda Racing CBR Accessories like covers, carbon-fiber trim pieces, rear seat cowls and bike locks.
