Noyes Second on 1000cc Extreme Grid at Jerez Kenny Noyes took his Palmeto Kawasaki ZX.10R to second after 1000cc Extreme qualifying at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Kenny missed a shot at the pole when he ran into traffic in the afternoon session when he was out on his second qualifying tire, but his time of 1´42,777, recorded in the morning session on his first Michelin qualifier was enough to take second on the Extreme grid alongside Ivan Silva (Kawasaki). After rain on Thursday evening, Friday’s two 1000cc Extreme qualifying sessions were held in dry conditions but under cloudy skies. A light rain just prior to the afternoon session made conditions tricky, but Kenny was satisfied to clinch a front row start alongside Silva and with reigning champion Carmelo Morales (Yamaha) and 2007 Champion José David de Gea (Suzuki) completing the top four. Kenny expects a four or five rider group to form in Sunday’s race, and the presence of the smaller Moto2 600 prototypes might produce some surprises, especially during the early laps. Warm-up starts at 8:45 and the Extreme race will start at 10:30 and will be shown on Spanish TVE immediately following the live 125GP race. Kenny Noyes (second) 1´42.777: “Practice went well and we accomplished what we set out to do. We are on the front row and have a good set-up and good pace on race tires, although we still need to make some little improvements in the warm-up. Fortunately the rain stayed away from our session and because of the clouds the track temperature in the final session was probably about what it will be tomorrow morning for the race. I think we have a good race pace and we will be in the fight for the win tomorrow.”
