American Suzuki sending stock samples to AMA for inspection BREA, Calif., (August 19, 2008) The Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing team is eager to comply with the AMA’s recent request for stock samples of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 crankshaft. This request was made after six-time AMA Superbike Champion Mat Mladin won both rounds of AMA Superbike at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in Alton, Virginia, this past weekend. “During post-technical tear-down at VIR, only Mat Mladin’s crankshaft was examined,” explained Rockstar Makita Suzuki Team Manager Don Sakakura. “The AMA determined that further examination was necessary and asked Suzuki to submit two additional samples to the Ohio office by Wednesday, August 20. We are in the process of doing that now and the samples will go out today.” At VIR, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Mladin, two-time and defending AMA Superbike Champion Spies and Hayden dominated the double-header weekend. The Suzuki threesome swept the AMA Superbike podium in both races on Saturday and Sunday, finishing first, second and third, respectively.
