Oschersleben 8 Hours SERT, TKF and YART fighting in free practice As of the free practice sessions this morning in Oschersleben, Germany, the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team decided to mark the spirits with the best time in 1’28.480, already better than the best qualifiying 2007 time made by the Team Kawasaki France. SERT, current World Champion and 2008 leader, will run this race with Matthieu Lagrive and Julien Da Costa. Vincent Philippe is present on the track in spite of his injured right ankle, but his presence is only for support. Team Kawasaki France is the other favourite for victory. Christian Bourgeois, TKF team manager, finally recruited the Spaniard Ivan Silva to ride with Erwan Nigon and Julian Mazuecos. The official Kawasaki made the second time in 1’28.838, but will also have to count with a rider with an injured ankle. Julian Mazuecos fell in the second free practice session. After its superb eleventh place in Suzuka, Yamaha Austria Racing Team is placed in top 3 behind Kawasaki France. They are the three only machines to ride under 1’28 this morning on the 3,667 km sinuous track of Oschersleben. This race will be spectacular. Beside the permanent teams used to the characteristics of Endurance, many local teams entered in the German Superbike Championship, also run this weekend in Oschersleben, will also try their luck in Endurance. The fastest of them today is the Yoshimura Van Zon Schäfer Motorsport Germany Suzuki with Belgians Werner Daemen, Olivier Depoorter and Didier Van Keymeulen. They are just ahead this morning of Yamaha Phase One Endurance ridden by Damian Cudlin, Graeme Gowland, Supersport World Championship rider, and Sebastien Scarnato. The Yamaha Motor Deutschland of Nina Prinz, Andrzej Pawelec and Jörg Teuchert is also in the leading group right ahead of the very mediatic Honda Holzhauer Racing with Martin Bauer, 2007 German Superbike champion and current 2008 leader, Matthias Von Hammerstein and Michael Schumacher. In the good rhythm, the multiple F1 world champion switched happily to two wheel competition for his pleasure. Also in top 10 appears the surprising French Suzuki AM Moto Racing with Sullivan Hernandez, Pierre Guersillon and Fabrice Auger (13th in the 2007 24 Hours of Oschersleben) in front of Yamaha Maco Moto Racing with Warwick Nowland, Jason Pridmore and Martin Kuzma and YMES Folch Endurance with Dani Ribalta and Pedro Vallcaneras. The best Superstock performance was signed by Suzuki Qatar Endurance Racing Team IJT. The first qualifiying session takes place this Thursday at the end of the afternoon. The second is scheduled on Friday morning. The race will be run on Saturday, starting at 3 p.m. and finishing at to 11 p.m. Live race on http://timing.wige-iptv.de/index.php View the entry list: ~/files/2008AugEWCEntryList.pdf~
