FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: I just read an article on your website with Ray Hymer’s letter in response to your initial article on him. I am a victim in his case (and his son, Steven’s), and would be more than happy to give you my perspective on the case if you like. I’ve been posting on the WERA forum on the subject, ever since I received a copy of Ray’s Presentence Investigation Report that pointed me to that thread. To me, giving him a forum to claim his “innocence” without rebuttal from those affected is like a slap in the face. If you do wish to interview him, I would certainly welcome the opportunity to be the interviewer, which might give it an interesting twist. My first and biggest question would be “Ray, if you’re innocent and not in any way involved in motorcycle theft, how did my 2001 GSX-R1000 come to be found by police in a trailer on your property?” I was at part of his court proceedings, and appeared as a witness. There was a massive amount of surveillence performed on Steven, Ray, and all of Ray’s properties, and I can assure you, these charges weren’t put together out of thin air, as Ray would have you believe. Probably my biggest complaint in the whole process was the decisions and performance of the Deputy District Attorney prosecuting the case. I’m not sure exactly how the actual theft charges came back not guilty, nor do I care, what’s done is done. All I can do, and am doing at this point, is take these issues up with the District Attorney’s office. However, when it comes to Ray and Steven, I feel it my duty to make sure all in the motorcycle community are aware that he’s not this innocent victim of the justice system that he claims to be, and yes, there are victims, and motorcycles were stolen and recovered on his property. If he doesn’t want to keep his mouth closed and walk away from the motorcycle community for good, I’ll gladly make sure that the community is aware of the real facts, not just what Ray would like them to believe. Respectfully, A Victim of Thievin’ Steven and Rip-off Ray, Bryan Kriegshauser Phoenix, Arizona
