Johnstown, Ohio”¦Ready to make history by taking the first two-wheeled win at the all new Thunderbolt Raceway at New Jersey Motorsport Park, Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports are eager for Round 6 of the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series to get underway, August 29-30. “This coming weekend will mark the first time any of us have raced on this new race track,” explain co-team owners David and Michael Lloyd. “That means that the entire field will be on the same footing. No-one will have a home court advantage. Luckily for us, both Mike (Himmelsbach) and Ty (Howard) are really good at adapting to new tracks. It shouldn’t take them long to learn all the ins-and-outs and we will be good to go.” “I’m excited,” says Himmelsbach, who hails from Quakertown, Pa. “As soon as I race on it, Thunderbolt Raceway will be my hometown track and there is no better place to take a win than in your own backyard with friends and family cheering you on. We had some problems last time out in Topeka, but I figure we will be good to go for this round.” Leading the championship battle by three points, Aprilia USA has so far earned two wins, two seconds and a fourth. Their goal is to make this event win number three. “This year’s championship is all going to boil down to the 8 Hours At Daytona,” continues David Lloyd. “If we can take top honors at New Jersey, we will have a little more cushion going into the final race.” “I adapt easily to new tracks,” says former dirt-track rider Ty Howard. “I like the challenge of new things and I feel that this should be a good race for us.” A top-ranked front-runner, Howard, who hails from Texas, has more than proven himself on tracks all over the country, as has Himmelsbach. In short, there is no doubt as to the ability of these two champions. Combine their talent and skill with the ability of the Aprilia USA/Lloyd Brothers Motorsports crew and the power and durability of the Aprilia Tuono 1000R and you definitely have a winning combination.
