Following a very successful month so far in September, the Hydrex Bike Animal Honda duo of James Ellison and Guy Martin head to the penultimate round of the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike Championship brimful of confidence. 28 year old Cumbrian Ellison was a revelation at the World Superbike Championship meeting at Donington Park a couple of weeks ago where as a wild card entry, he scored a fourth place finish aboard the Mick Shanley-prepared Honda CBR 1000 Fireblade in the second of the day’s races. Meanwhile, Martin made history last weekend by becoming the first rider to record six wins at the prestigious Scarborough International Gold Cup, meaning the 26 year old from Kirmington has been unbeaten since 2003. However, both of team owner Shaun Muir’s riders endured a tougher time at the previous round of the BSB Championship at Croft, which straddled the two weekends, so both want to get back to business for differing reasons. Ellison is seeking that elusive first BSB victory after scoring three podium finishes so far and still has desires on a top six placing in the championship whereas Martin is looking to improve on his best result of ninth place, which he scored at the very first round of the year at Thruxton. James Ellison: “I love Silverstone, it’s awesome but it’s four years ago since I was there. I’m really looking forward to it; the track is a lot smoother than Croft so we should go a lot better.” Guy Martin: “We’re on a roll so I’m full of confidence going into Silverstone and really looking forward to it. Now we have the win at Scarborough, the monkey’s off the back a little bit and I can go out and enjoy it.” The first of the two, twenty lap races gets underway at 1.15pm on Sunday with the second race scheduled for 4.25pm and coverage as usual is live on British Eurosport.
