PEGRAM AND DUCATI TOP THE PODIUM IN FONTANA Cupertino, Calif. Foremost Insurance Pegram Ducati’s Larry Pegram dominated Saturday’s Auto Club Speedway American Superbike race- a thriller that came down to the last lap. Mounted on a Ducati 1198R, Pegram battled the field from start to finish. The owner of the Foremost Insurance-backed team waited until the last two laps in order to make his move on Jake Zemke and Aaron Yates, and took home his first win of the 2010 season. It was a trouble-free race, and the Ducati rider didn’t reveal his hand until the very end. Pegram was set to continue his winning ways on Sunday until an unfortunate accident ended his race two early, while his Ducati was in the lead. Larry and crew are more motivated than ever to continue their fine form as preparations begin for the next round at Road Atlanta. The 1198R’s next outing will be a test at Infineon Raceway later this week. “I’m really excited to be back on top of the podium and in the hunt for the 2010 title. Auto Club Speedway has long been one of my favorite tracks, and I was really, really excited to finally get a win there. We should get in some good testing this week, and be ready to go come Road Atlanta,” Said Pegram. In Sunday’s Daytona Sportbike race, Latus Racing- MotoCorsa rider Steve Rapp piloted his Ducati 848 to a solid third position, riding a strong race by using his 848’s power to its fullest on Auto Club Speedway’s long banking. The podium keeps Rapp fourth in the overall standings and in a strong position to gain momentum at Road Atlanta. For more information on Team Foremost Pegram Racing please visit www.pegramracing.com. More, from a press release issued by Team Pedercini: The second round of the HANNspree Superbike World Championship and the first round of the Superstock 1000 FIM for Pedercini team to the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao. Pedercini Superbike riders Roger Lee Hayden and Matteo Baiocco continued to work on their Kawasaki ZX 10R. Both riders ended the two Superbike races, collecting a lot of useful data that will be very important for the team’s tecnical staff to improve the bikes performance. A positive debut for Danilo Petrucci and Chris Leeson in Superstock 1000 world cup. A tough weekend for Hayden and Baiocco on the difficult and technical Portuguese track. Both riders must adapt their style to their new Kawasaki ZX 10R. They have worked hard over the three days, testing various electronic and bike set but without finding the better feeling with their bikes. Unfortunately Hayden and Baiocco just missed out on the Superpole starting the race on the sixth row of the grid. In race one Hayden was eighteenth while team mate Baiocco crossed the line nineteenth. Similar result in race two. Seventeenth position for Hayden with Baiocco behind in eighteenth. Petrucci e Leeson during the Portimao test session worked for the first time with their technical staff to understand their new Kawasaki bikes. In Sunday race Petrucci started from the third row in ninth position while Leeson lined up in fifth row with the twentieth lap time. Very good performance for Petrucci who reached the ninth place. Leeson crossed the line in sixteenth place very close to the points zone. Pedercini team is now in Valencia to perform two test days on the Spanish circuit where the third rounds of the Superbike world championship and the second round of the Superstock 1000 FIM World Cup will take place over the weekend of April 9/10/11. In race two my pace was not so far from the one of the fastest riders, despite some gear problem we suffered on my Kawasaki bike in both race. I’m working very well with my team’s technical staff and I’m confident with my technicians. They are helping me a lot to find the right feeling with my Kawasaki ZX-10R. We must continue on this way to be able to reach some good results in the next races”. Roger Lee Hayden :” It has been a difficult weekend for me. I couldn’t get a good feeling for the bike during the practice and qualifying sessions and then I started from the sixth row of the grid. It’s very difficult to score good results starting from the sixth row, but I tried even harder to pass some riders, but the gap was just too big. My mechanics have worked hard for which I want to thank them. I’m understanding the machine’s potential better every time out and I want to reach some points in my next races. We hope to solve our set up problems during next Valencia test that will be very important for me to learn the track and to improve my feeling with Pirelli tyres”. Superstock 1000 FIM Cup Race : 1) Badovini (BMW) 2) Berger (Honda) – 3) Baz (Yamaha) – 4) Barrier (BMW) 5) Bussolotti (Honda) “¦”¦. 9) Petrucci (Kawasaki)”¦”¦”¦”¦16) Leeson (Kawasaki) Danilo Petrucci : “I’m pretty satisfied for my race today. It was tough because it was my first race with this team and this bike and I’m still learning how my bike is working but I gained a lot of confidence very quickly and I was able to reach the final ninth position in my 2010 Superstock race. My feeling with the team is very good and I worked very well with my technicians. Now we’ll go in Valencia for two very important test days and I’m sure I’ll reach some good results in my next races”.
