ALEX BARROS AIMS FOR A RACE VICTORY Brazilian Alex Barros (Team Klaffi Honda) will give his first appearance at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola after a period of seven years. In 1999 Barros rode a Honda NSR at the 500cc Grand Prix in Imola. Ducati rider Troy Bayliss has the chance to secure his second world title after 2001, as the Australian heads to Imola with an 87 points margin ahead of Yamahas Noriyuki Haga. Alex Barros currently sits in sixth position in the world championship standings with two meetings left to go. Alex Barros: “It is quite a long time since I rode my last race in Imola, actually it was back in 1999. I finished second in the 500cc Grand Prix. The Imola track is beautiful and the layout suits my riding style. As the bike is more competitive since the EuroSpeedway, I think that I can challenge for a race victory. Raul Forcada will be back as my crew chief for the final two meetings. I take race by race and want to score a win, as the gap in the championship is now too big. Klaus Klaffenböck, Team Manager: “We are keen to finish this championship with some good results. I hope that Alex can show his good performance from the EuroSpeedway over both race distances this time. Our target in the championship is still fourth place.”
