Army Of Darkness uses BNG to win WERA/N2 Roebling Road Raceway 4 hour endurance race.

Facing stiff competition, AOD rider’s Jake Lewis, Ben Walters, and Sam Fleming put their BNG-equipped 2020 Yamaha R1 to good use by winning the 4hr WERA/N2 Endurance race at Roebling Road Raceway.

Crew Chief Tim Gooding explained the race winning tire strategy that AOD was alone in employing:  “We had two kinds of Michelins.  The 24 slick, and the grooved rain tire.  When it was sunny and the track was dry, we put the tires on that don’t have tread.  But, when it rained in the middle of the race, we put on the rain tires that work better when there are puddles.  Then, when the track dried up, we put the slick tires back on.  We figured keeping the bike upright on the tires was the best way to preserve our BNGs.”

Although there were three teams on the lead lap when the rain drops started to fall, AOD emerged alone as other teams were felled by the changing conditions.

Guest rider Jake Lewis offered: “It was really fun to come out here and ride with AOD.  Ben and Sam were great teammates and the AOD crew of Tim (Gooding), Melissa (Berkoff), YT Lechner), and Anthony (Consorte) were awesome.  They never stopped working all weekend trying to make the bike that little bit more competitive.  Their pits stops were so tight.  It was really fun to substitute for Chris Peris and get a chance to keep AOD’s winning streak alive.”

Ben Walters observed: “Roebling Road is the toughest track on our calendar but Michelin set us up with the best tires we’ve ever used here.  The 24 slick was amazing but we picked up our biggest advantage when Tim put the rain tires on while most of the other top teams stayed on slicks.  I’m just glad no one was hurt in the tip overs that caused the two red flags.  Also, Billy Ethridge, if you are out there, you should know that I jumped the restart during an endurance race.”
