ASRA/CCS: Jason Farrell, Zach Schumacher Shine On Rain-Soaked Weekend At Blackhawk Farms

© 2019, Roadracing World Publishing, Inc. From a press release issued By Drew Jankord on behalf of ASRA/CCS.

Zach Schumacher and Jason Farrell shine while riding in the rain-soaked final round of the Championship Cup Series’ (CCS) Midwest region this past weekend, Sep 21-22, on the 1.95 mile, seven-turn course of Blackhawk Farms Raceway, in South Beloit, Illinois.

Starting with the first race on Saturday through the final race on Sunday, the track conditions varied only in how large the puddles were. Record amounts of rain kept the track wet all weekend, but the continuous precipitation did provide for close and unpredictable racing. Schumacher won four races on his Yamaha YZF-R1 supported by Dunlop tires. In the Unlimited GP race, Michael Butler got through turn one first, followed by Drew Jankord and Schumacher. On the second lap, Schumacher made his way by Jankord out of turn six and set his sights on Butler. On the final lap, Schumacher made his move under Butler in turn one to take the lead and win the race. After the race, Butler was assessed a one lap penalty for a jump-start, promoting Jankord to second place and Robert Loose Jr. to third.

Farrell won four races including the ASRA Sportbike sprint race where he set the quickest race lap of the weekend, a 1:22.580, riding his Farrell Performance Kawasaki ZX-6R on Pirelli tires. For the amateurs, Tim Lenahan won eight races on his DTTR LLC Yamaha YZF-R6 equipped with Bridgestone tires. Lenahan recorded the fastest amateur lap time of the weekend, a 1:28.727.

In the Lightweight expert division Zach Mixion went undefeated winning seven out of seven races on his Bridgeston backed Suzuki SV650. In the Amateur category Ike Ozurumba led the field, racking up five wins on his Bridgestone mounted Suzuki SV650.

For the Ultra-light races, Drew Jankord and Bruce Barry both stood on the top step riding their Pirelli backed Kawasaki ninjas. Barry won the 25 Minute GT500 race, and CCS Moto3 race in convincing style. Jankord took the checkers in 500 Supersport, 500 Superbike and the ASRA Moto3 race.

The American Sportbike Racing Association (ASRA) is the parent organization to the Championship Cup Series (CCS), the largest Amateur motorcycle road racing organization in the United States issuing over 2800 licenses per year. ASRA promotes eight AMA sanctioned Sprint Series and seven AMA sanctioned Team Challenge road racing events for 2019. The CCS Series sanctions 40 events at popular tracks around the United States, including Daytona International Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Homestead Miami Speedway, Road America, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Virginia International Raceway among other fine venues. In 2019 ASRA and CCS will provide riders with access to millions of dollars of sponsorship awards through participation in its sanctioned events.
