(Reno, NV)””Syndicate Motorsport Management, LLC announced today that Australian Damian Cudlin has signed an agreement with Syndicate for management representation. Damian Cudlin will ride for the Evan Steel Performance Yamaha Team in the 2009 AMA Daytona Sportbike Championship. Cudlin will make his AMA Pro Racing Debut at the Daytona 200 aboard the ESP Yamaha R6. Cudlin has been a consistent front runner the last few years in the World Endurance Championship. That experience may just give the Daytona 200 rookie an advantage when the green flag drops after the Florida sun has set. Having success on unfamiliar tracks is nothing new to Cudlin, in 2008 he rode a private R6 to third place overall in the fiercely competitive German IDM Championship in his rookie year. Cudlin has also demonstrated his ability to learn U.S. tracks quickly. In December, Damian rode an ESP prepared machine at the CCS Southwest season finale at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix. With only ten minutes of practice on a borrowed bike, at an unfamiliar track, Damian broke the two and a half year old track record on lap seven of a twelve lap sprint race. We want to build on our momentum from the 2008 season that saw our team achieve our first AMA podium. The new rules really help the small teams like ours who could never outspend the big factory teams. Now, we’re on a more level playing field. I’ve wanted to race in America for a while now, but the right opportunity just never presented itself. I contacted Murph (Syndicate’s Michael Murphy) just before the beginning of the 2008 season, but there were no good opportunities at that late date. Murph and I kept in contact during the 2008 season–especially because of all the changes going on in the AMA– and tried to come up with a plan that would further my career. Now with the ESP crew behind me, I really think I can make a splash over here and build a career for myself in the States. I just want to prove myself against these guys out here, and improve as the year goes on. The ESP guys have given me a chance to do that, and I intend to make the most of this opportunity. I’ve never seen any of the circuits, or ridden against any of the AMA guys, so I know this isn’t going to be easy but I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t think I could cope. I’m ready for the challenge.” About Damian Cudlin: Born in 1982, in Sydney, Australia, Damian Cudlin achieved early success in motorcycle racing, winning five Australian Junior Dirt Track Championships from 1995 through 1998. In 1999, Damian made the transition to roadracing in the Juniors Roadrace Series and competed against fellow Australian standouts Ant West, Chris Vermeulen, Broc Parkes and Josh Brookes. Damian tasted success in the class, setting lap records, winning a number of races and getting the chance to race in Japan in the 80cc GP where he finished 2nd. In 2000, Damian shocked the paddock when he went out and won his debut Superbike race ahead of Factory riders Marty Atlee and Kevin Curtain. In 2001, Damian finished 5th in the Australian Superbike Championship even though he suffered a freak warm up accident that almost ended his career in the penultimate round. The remainder of the 2001 season and the majority of the 2002 season Damian worked on his recovery. For the 2003 season Damian competed in the World Endurance Championship finishing the year in ninth overall. In 2004, Damian returned to the Australian championship, although inconsistent machinery resulted in a sixth place overall in the Australian Superbike Championship. 2005-2008 Damian competed in World Endurance where he was consistently one of the fastest riders on the track and twice finished as high as third in the championship. 2008 also saw Damian compete in the German IDM Supersport Championship where he finished third overall on a private Yamaha R6.
