Traditional race format for QBE Australian Superbike finale The 2013 finale of the QBE Australian Superbike Championship at Phillip Island on October 5-6 will revert to a traditional two-race format for the premier class. After careful consideration and consultation with riders and key stakeholders, the decision was made to forgo the 300km race in favour of the tried and tested two-race format. International Entertainment Group (IEG) General Manager Phil Harper said that concern from riders and teams and a lack of opportunity to prepare for an endurance race prompted the decision to maintain the traditional formats for the final round at Philip Island. “We don’t want to place additional pressure on riders and teams or increase their costs,” Harper said. “After careful consideration it was agreed by all parties to stick with the tried and proven format we have run all year. With a big field expected for the championship finale IEG has extended the cut-off for entries. For further information or to submit your entry email [email protected]
