The Plataforma VIP (better known as “El Ovni” – the UFO) was elected as the place where the specialised press, the riders and the other members of the Avintia Team have shared a good time. During this event Antonio Martín (President of the Avintia Group and Avintia Racing co-owner) and Raúl Romero (Avintia Racing co-owner and MotoGP Team Manager) have explained how the merger between the Avintia Group and BQR has enabled the advent of the Avintia Racing in order to carry out a project today a reality thanks to the support of Blusens and their collaborators which consisted in having a competitive structure in Moto2 and Moto3 and fulfil the dream of taking part to MotoGP. On the sport side Raúl Romero (MotoGP Team Manager) has confirmed how excited the whole team is about the fact that they will take part to this category with a bike which has been assembled and developed in Spain and assisted by Spanish technicians. For his part Ricart Jové (Moto2/Moto3 Team Manager) has explained how cautious he was about Maverick and Julián Simón’s good results beyond compare in their respective category. As it could be expected however the riders have been the centre of attention. Julián Simón (Moto2), Maverick Viñales (Moto3) and Yonny Hernández and Iván Silva (MotoGP) were proudly standing by their bikes and willing to answer any question from the media. The event finished with a good taste in the mouth for every one especially thanks to the Pata Negra cured ham and El Fino which everybody was happy to enjoy… Antonio Martín (President of the Avintia Group and Avintia Racing co-owner): ” For Avintia it’s a very exciting and serious project. The Avintia Group has been present in the world championship as a sponsor for three seasons. It has been so exhilarating that when we had the opportunity to merge with the BQR Team we didn’t hesitate for a single second. We take an ambitious look into the future as we are participating into MotoGP this season with a long-term project. The creation of Avintia Racing implies the combination of the former BQR Team’s experience, capability and perfect solidity with Avintia’s solvency and reliability in various business areas. Let us hope that it will mean the expansion and the recognition of the brand nationwide as well as internationally and great sports achievement we will concentrate all our efforts on.” Raúl Romero (Avintia Racing co-owner and MotoGP Team Manager): “We have grown we are a new team which has BQR’s assets and experience as well as the energy and the business vision that Avintia has brought along. Getting together and the support of Blusens and their collabotors have enabled us to come up with a project which would have been impossible otherwise. Today I have the great pleasure to introduce you to the Avintia Racing Team which will take part to this world championship in all three classes. Moto2 and Moto3 are for us the only two real options to end up on the podium. MotoGP is a dream come true and the near future. Our technicians and mechanics have developed a bike with which we hope to be very competitive among the CRT and with which we will be working to show that Avintia Racing has come to MotoGP to stay. We completely trust the whole team and of course our riders. Iván Silva is an experienced man and Yonny is coming from Moto2 and is eager to learn. I sincerely think that we will have a great season.” Ricard Jové (Moto2/Moto3 Team Manager): ” It seems logical to be optimistic and excited with the team we are proud to introduce you today. We have good bikes, a great team and of course great riders. Having Julián Simón in Moto2 is priceless. It mustn’t be forgotten that Julián is world champion and no doubt he is willing to repeat it. He now has a great team strictly dedicated to himself and in which he feels surrounded and loved. In Moto3 having the hands and the talent of Maverick is like having a joker when you play cards. It can’t be denied that Maverick is one of the favourites in his class but I would like to put special emphasis on the fact that we must remain calm and patient. We all know that the world championship is long, hard and harsh. We don’t dismiss our options but we shouldn’t count our chickens before they’re hatched.” Yonny Hernández (MotoGP): “For me taking part into the MotoGP world championship is like a dream. I am coming from Moto2 and I’ll have to learn but I know the team very well and it will be of great help. Logically the bike is quite different from the ones I have ridden so far especially in terms of traction control and electronics but so far I have been happy with our progress throughout the pres-season.” Iván Silva (MotoGP): ” I still don’t know in which category I’ll be in. I am going to start in MotoGP but I’ll have to wait for the first race to see what it is really. I am excited and I hope I can benefit from my experience with high-capacity bikes. We are going to battle with world motorbike elite and this is it. It won’t be easy but this project is very much “ours” an I am very motivated.” Julián Simón (Moto2): ” I am very excited before this season. Being part of Avintia Racing is a guarantee and I am feeling well surrounded. As you know it’s a difficult category and of great equality but I am feeling strong and I am convinced that we will achieve interesting things. I still have a few small details to improve but I ‘ll make it thanks to the support of the team. I am sure we’ll have a great year.” Maverick Viñales (Moto3): “I am obviously very happy to be part of Avintia Racing. The human and technical team is the same as last year and we have a great relationship. They convey a feeling of security and we really get on with each other when it comes to work. The pre-season has been really good and I hope the season will be in the same line. The competition will be harsh but we are strong.”
