There’s a new thrill ride in town. It’s a tool to help teach sportbike riders how to learn better lean angle, braking, cornering and bike control. All can be learned on the racetrack on the back of AZTrackday’s new 2-Up bike. The 2-Up bike is a Yamaha R-1 that has been modified to seat two riders safely at race speeds. The bike features handles that are sunk into the gas tank. This allows for the passenger to have a secure hold on the bike and not the pilot. The suspension has been engineered specifically for this purpose. The passenger foot pegs have been set so that the passenger has the overall feel of being in the same race ready position as the pilot. On the back, the passenger can feel what it is like to ride just a few seconds off of race pace; a thrilling feeling that not many riders ever get to accomplish for themselves. It teaches proper braking, throttle control, lean angle and the best line around the track. All of this knowledge can then be transferred directly back to their own bike. So come on out to the racetrack and feel the thrill and excitement of riding at race speeds only a select few have experienced. The cost is $20 it includes leathers rental, riders will need their own helmet gloves and boots. Proceeds go to the Phoenix charity Tim & Willy Kids Fun-dation.
