Bartel’s Harley Davidson Returns to AMA Pro Road Racing with JCR The world famous Bartel’s Harley Davidson of Marina Del Rey, CA is making a return to AMA Professional Road Racing with a new team and presence in the 2012 Vance & Hines XR1200 Series. The newly formed Josh Chisum Racing (JCR) team will consist of 3 riders; Tyler O’Hara from Petaluma, CA, Michael Barnes from Boca Raton, FL, and Josh Chisum from Bakersfield, CA. O’Hara will be looking for his second AMA title of his young career. Tyler said, “I’m super pumped to be joining forces with my long time friend Josh and the experienced Michael Barnes. It should be a solid year and I’m planning on running up front every weekend, focusing all my efforts towards JCR and winning the overall XR1200 Championship”. Tyler participated in DSB last year but has no definite plans for that class in 2012, “I will also be eligible to ride select DSB rounds but I have not committed with any other teams. Josh has put an awesome program together for me and I know the Bartel’s machines will be insane.” The rider with the most experience on the team will be 23 year AMA Road Racing veteran, Michael Barnes. Barnes, who finished last year’s AMA XR1200 series 6th overall, brings a long list of accomplishments including a podium at the prestigious Daytona 200 in 2007. “I’m honored to be riding for Bill Bartel. I’ve worked with him in the past and his Harley Davidson equipment is the best there is. Partner that with Josh’s experience and enthusiasm, and I believe we will have a winning combination,” said Barnes. Chisum, the third member of the team, is a former professional motocross and supermoto racer that has now set his sights on the XR1200 Championship. Chisum has achieved success at all levels of racing and captured 3rd overall in the 2008 Supermoto Unlimited Championship. His racing experience also includes multiple X-Games appearances and numerous podiums. Chisum has established his program using his strong relationships within the industry to pull together an exciting new team. “I think when it’s time to go racing, we will be prepared and focused on the championship. We should do exceptionally well. Bill Bartel is a legend when it comes to Harley Davidson racing and I couldn’t be happier to be working with him,” said Chisum. “It’s great to be back involved in AMA racing,” says Bartel. “I’ve always been a racer and Harley Davidson is my life. When you get good people involved, who love it as much as I do, it’s something that I want to be a part of. That defines Josh and JCR!” The bikes will be tuned by Bartel’s master mechanic, Mitzu, and maintained throughout the year by both Jason Parker and Keaton Hendrickson. The team would like to thank their 2012 sponsors; Bartel’s Harley-Davidson, Scrubblade-the ultimate windshield wiper blade, MAAX Spas, Arai Helmets, RS Taichi, Galfer, Barnett Clutches & Cables, Troy Lee Designs, K-TECH, Orient Express, Chicken Hawk Racing, Moto Liberty, Sidi, Sor Graphics, Beer Optics, Let’s Ride Track Days, Steel Horse Fab, R-Tillery and JST. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. Anyone interested in helping the team or obtaining information on its upcoming schedule should contact Josh Chisum via email:[email protected].
