Batey And Jensen Top WERA National Challenge Series Qualifying At Summit Point

Tray Batey and Robert Jensen topped their classes in Michelin WERA National Challenge Series qualifying at Summit Point Raceway Friday afternoon. Batey turned a 1:12.377 to take pole position in the Open Superstock Expert class aboard a Vesrah-sponsored Suzuki GSX-R1000 on Pirelli tires. T. Westby Corporation’s Dane Westby qualified second-fastest with a 1:13.210. Tim Bemisderfer and Butler Machinery’s Robert Jensen rounded out all-Suzuki the front row. Jensen rode his Michelin-shod Yamaha YZF-R6 to pole position in the 600cc Superstock Expert class, with Westby second again aboard another YZF-R6. Local hero David Joseph Rose rode his YZF-R6 to third on the grid, while Wisconsin’s Shawn Conrad rounded out the front row aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6RR. Grids for other WERA National Challenge Series classes are set using points and order of entry.
