Vesrah Suzuki’s Tray Batey won three WERA National Challenge sprint races at the Las Vegas Classic Course, in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the temperature reached 110 degrees F Sunday. In spite of being fatigued after riding three demanding stints en route to winning Saturday’s six-hour endurance race, 47-year-old Batey soldiered to convincing victories in Open Superstock, 750cc Superstock and Formula One on his Pirelli-shod GSX-Rs. Dane Westby, who also rode several shifts in Saturday’s endurance race, won the 600cc Superstock and 600cc Superbike races on his Dunlop-equipped Yamaha YZF-R6 and was only beaten by Batey in the 750cc Superstock sprint. Another multiple race winner on the day was Benny Solis, Jr., who rode his VJB Racing Honda RS125 to well-deserved wins in Formula Two and 125cc Grand Prix. Riding in her first event since the biggest crash of her young career, Roadracingworld.com/Kids: Don’t Smoke! Racing Kawasaki’s Elena Myers, age 14, took her first-ever big-bike race victory and her first-ever National race victory on her Dunlop-tired Kawasaki ZX-6R in the 750cc Superbike event.
