J.D. Beach rode as a temporary replacement rider with Alex Debon’s Aeroport de Castello team in the Moto2 World Championship race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The former Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Champion, who had never ridden a Moto2 bike before, qualified 35th out of 38 and finished 29th. After the race, the team asked Beach to ride their FTR M211 again this coming weekend at Misano, but the 19-year-old declined the offer, opting to stick to his original schedule and race his Attack Performance Kawasaki ZX-10R Superbike in the AMA Pro Superbike season finale September 2-4 at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP). “They offered for me to go to Misano,” Beach told Roadracingworld.com Thursday in the paddock at NJMP, “but it was only going to be for one more race. And I already had a prior commitment to Kawasaki and Attack to come here. I would love to get back on the Moto2 bike again, but we didn’t think it was a good idea to get anybody mad to do one more race. But if they want me to come back again after this race I would for sure.” Beach’s offer to ride the Aeroport de Castello FTR was then extended to Jake Gagne, who accepted the offer and will ride this weekend at Misano, the same track he won the 2010 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup Championship. Gagne, who regularly races a Harris chassis in the CEV/Spanish Moto2 Championship, rode a Team GP Tech FTR M210 as a wild card at Indianapolis and qualified 33rd and finished 31st.
