FARMINGDALE, NJ January 19, 2011 Bel-Ray Company, Inc. the leading USA-based lubrication manufacturing company is pleased to announce our support of YRT (Yamaha Racing Team) for the 2011 Australian FX Superbike and Australian Superbike Championships. The team will compete in the 6 round Australasian FX Superbike Championships with a full stable of championship caliber riders, including reigning champions, Rick Olsen and Kevin Curtain and rising star Pat Medcalf. The entire team will compete for the FX1000cc Championship while Curtain will also compete in the FX600cc class. The team will also compete in the ASBK Championship with the sole focus on winning the 600cc Supersport class with Curtain and Olsen aboard the Yamaha R6 machine. “The professionalism and results of the Yamaha Racing Team provides an excellent showcase for the full line of Bel-Ray performance lubricants,” said Bel-Ray Brand Manager, Scott Lukaitis, “and their decision to compete in both series should reward our commitment with multiple championships in 2011,” he added. “It is going to be an enormous year for everyone on the team,” explains YRT manager, John Redding. “The FX Championship proved to be a wise move for us in 2010 and with the reduced costs of racing a production based series, we have been able to include more events in 2011.” “Re-entering the ASBK is because Yamaha is passionate about racing. As a company, we pride ourselves on our continued commitment to racing and for 2011 we have the means and budget to contest both series.” “Our race team already has the knowledge, expertise and performance parts to tackle the 600cc Supersport class in the ASBK. It would be a shame to let that go to waste when we can be on the race track and competing for national championships.” “Winning races and championships is the ultimate accolade for any bike and manufacturer and with the Yamaha R1 and R6. We believe we have the bikes to take us to the top of the class,” Redding signs off. 2011 Australasian FX Superbike Championship Calendar Rnd1. 11-13 March Eastern Creek Raceway, NSW Rnd2. 29 April-1 May Wakefield Park Raceway, NSW Rnd3. 1-3 July Eastern Creek Raceway, NSW Rnd4. 2-4 September Winton Raceway, VIC Rnd5. 8-9 October Wakefield Park Raceway, NSW Rnd6. 5-6 November Eastern Creek Raceway, NSW 2011 Australian Superbike Championship Calendar (600cc Supersport) Rnd1. 25-27 February Phillip Island, VIC Rnd2. 4-6 March Symmons Plains, TAS Rnd3. 14-17 April Hidden Valley, NT Rnd5. 3-5 June Queensland Raceway, QLD Rnd8. 18-20 November Phillip Island, VIC YRT Team Profile Team Director: John Redding Team Manager: Kevin Marshall Crew Chief: Ryan Bennett Technician: Geoff Dillon Riders: Kevin Curtain, Rick Olson and Pat Medcalf Bikes: Yamaha R1 (1000cc) and Yamaha R6 (600cc)
