Ben Bostrom and Chris Clark won a WERA National Endurance Series 4-Hour at Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, Georgia Saturday. Riding the Team Zyvax 2 Yamaha YZF-R1, Bostrom and Clark beat the second-place team by nine laps. The Team Zyvax Yamaha YZF-R6 ridden by Dane Westby and Clinton Sellers finished third, 21 seconds out of second overall, after losing eight laps by switching bikes (due to a mechanical problem) at the beginning of the race. Westby and Sellers had clawed their way back up into second place but ran out of fuel with less than 10 minutes to go in the race, pitting for fuel and rejoining to finish third. Second place belonged to the Team Hooters/Apex 2 GSX-R600 ridden by James Rispoli and Tim Birdsong. The pair were slated to compete on a Yamaha YZF-R6 but when the bike developed mechanical problems in practice a stock GSX-R600 streetbike was hurriedly fitted with racing suspension parts and pressed into service. The winning Zyvax team covered 184 laps, or five less than Vesrah Suzuki did in winning the 2009 WERA National Endurance Series opener at Roebling Road. Vesrah Suzuki has since left the WERA Series to run with AMA Pro Racing. Just 15 teams entered the race, which was run in cold, windy conditions with some drizzle in the second hour and rain early in the fourth hour before ending under sunshine. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available from WERA Motorcycle Roadracing. Overall Results: 1.
