Ben Bostrom Will Not Race At Barber Due To Injury, Holden Will Ride Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha Superbike

Ben Bostrom will not race his Pat Clark Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike during this coming weekend’s AMA Pro National Guard Superbike event at Barber Motorsports Park due to injuries he sustained in his crash during the September 5 AMA Pro Superbike race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. “That’s correct,” Pat Clark Motorsports Team Manager David Pyles confirmed to Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. “He broke a couple of his ribs, I think maybe three or four, and his doctor told him he shouldn’t do it [ride].” In spite of the doctor’s warning, Bostrom attempted to ride a Team Zyvax R1 endurance racebike (which he also races full-time in 2010) during practice for the WERA National Endurance event September 10 at Barber, but pain from his injuries prevented the former AMA Superbike Champion from continuing in that event, according to Bostrom. Since then, Bostrom has tried to ride again on a Yamaha YZF-R1 on public roads, but once again he has determined that pain and lack of strength on his right side would make it impossible for him to ride safely and competitively, according to Pyles. “We’re all just concerned that if he fell down again something really bad could happen,” said Pyles. Roadracingworld.com could not immediately reach Bostrom on his cell phone. Bostrom will attend this weekend’s event at Barber Motorsports Park, but his Superbike will be ridden by Jake Holden. In addition to racing a Bruce Rossmeyers Daytona Racing RMR Harley-Davidson in the new AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 class in 2010, Holden has spent a significant portion of the 2010 season riding Team M4 Monster Energy Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 Superbike in place of John Hopkins, who was recovering from wrist reconstruction surgery. Holden achieved three top-five finishers in seven Superbike races, but when Hopkins returned to action at VIRginia International Raceway, Holden’s fill-in ride with the team ended. Holden also has previous experience working with Pat Clark Motorsports Technical Manager Ron Heben. Holden rode for the Heben-run Corona Honda factory Superbike team in 2009.
