A motorcycle stunt show, music and cookout to raise money for injured WERA road racer Zac Chapman has been scheduled for Saturday, August 29th in Weatherford, Texas. Zac Chapman, 19, a team rider for TVR/EBC Brakes Yamaha, was critically injured in a sprint race during the WERA Cycle Jam at Virginia International Raceway on August 8th. While Chapman appeared clear-headed and asked to decline treatment immediately after the accident, his condition deteriorated and he was taken to a local hospital. Chapman was then airlifted to the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia, where he has undergone at least two surgeries and has had a ventricular drain inserted to remove excess spinal fluid. At one point, doctors had cleared Chapman to travel, but his condition has varied and plans for Chapman’s care are in a constant state of change. Efforts are underway to raise money for an air ambulance flight from Virginia to a long-term care facility near his home in Texas, when Chapman can be safely transported. The fundraiser is scheduled to take place at Family PowerSports, a dealership where Chapman worked prior to his crash and injury.
