BENNETS SUZUKI READY FOR OULTON TRIPLE-HEADER
The Bennetts Suzuki team returns to Oulton Park this weekend for a triple-header at the glorious Cheshire circuit and round nine of the MCE British Superbike championship.
Christian Iddon’s previous visit to Oulton Park was marred by injury after breaking his fibula the round before. Now more at home on his Bennetts Suzuki GSX-R1000 and with no problems from his leg, he’s ready to banish the run of bad luck that’s plagued him at recent rounds.
Christian Iddon:
“I’m looking forward to having a proper go at Oulton this weekend. Last time out I was still struggling with my leg and I’d missed the test, so it’ll be good to be able to see what we can do this time out. Cadwell started positively for us and we were right up there in practice before a strange crash in qualifying made our races difficult. But we’re taking the positives from our pace over the last few rounds and hopefully we can have a strong and consistent weekend.”
After searching for the right set-up at previous rounds this season, the team is looking forward to returning to a familiar venue and Josh Waters is hopeful the data acquired from the previous visit to Oulton Park will help him make steps forward this weekend.
Josh Waters:
“Oulton Park is a circuit we’ve already been to this season so the team has some existing data for Friday, which should give us a good place to start from. We’ll keep working hard to find the best direction to go in, and having three races also gives us even more opportunity to make some changes over the weekend and to keep on trying to improve.”
Martin Halsall – Team Owner:
“Oulton Park is very much our local round and we’re looking forward to getting back there for this weekend’s triple-header. It’s a circuit we’ve got a little unfinished business with too. Christian came here with his fibula still in two pieces earlier this season but he still battled to a point-scoring finish. This time we’re looking for a good showing and think we can get him up the sharp-end if all goes well on Saturday. Everything looked like it was on course for a good result at Cadwell but that bad luck that’s been following us around struck again on Saturday and cost us the chance to potentially fight for the podium; so we’re looking to put that behind us and be competitive all weekend.”
The ninth round of the 2015 British Superbike championship takes place at Oulton Park on September 4-6th with the first free practice session for the Bennetts Suzuki team getting underway from 10:15am.
