APRILIA ALITALIA RACING TEAM FLIES TO THE UNITED STATES FOR THE FIFTH ROUND OF WORLD SUPERBIKE Reigning champion, Max Biaggi, who took a double win last year at Miller Motorsport Park (Utah) seeks his first win this season. Noale, May 25th 2011 World Superbike heads to the United States to take on Miller Motorsport Park, a fast and technical track just outside Salt Lake City where Team Aprilia Alitalia had some pleasant surprises in 2010: victory in both races for Max Biaggi, first place in the overall standings for the Roman champion and the first one-two win in Race 2 with Leon Camier crossing the finish line behind Max’s first place. This year the second WSBK extra-European transfer is once again an important crossroads. The weekend at Monza, despite the difficulties the team faced, confirmed the strength and competitiveness of Max Biaggi, who now wants to send a strong message in the battle for the title. With the great support of the local fans who always give Biaggi a warm welcome in the States where he is very popular the World Champion must aim for maximum results. “I have very good memories of the Miller track confirms Max Biaggi The double win last year took us to the top of the standings and was probably the first important step toward bringing home the title. I’ve always enjoyed racing in the United States. There are a lot of fans and they make their welcome presence known. On top of that the track is very technical, with guided sections where it is very important to find the right compromise in the bike’s set-up. For this reason we need to start off right away on the right foot: from the first practice session to the last race, we need to be one hundred percent focused”. This is also a track which is well liked by team mate Leon Camier, who rode his RSV4 to the second step of the podium in Race 2 at Miller Motorsport last year. A good performance would be important for the overall standings as well as for the English rider’s morale. Leon Camier – “It’s going to a tough weekend I’m sure, but I’m really looking forward to Miller. The start of the season has thrown a lot of bad luck at us and I’m sure some good luck has to come our way soon! Following the race weekend at Monza we had a two day test at Misano, and ok we didn’t do too many laps, but I think we made a positive step with the chassis. The field is really strong, it’ll be hard to know who exactly will come out on top. Checa was really strong here last year and is obviously on top form this season, then there’s Max, both BMW’s and both Yamaha’s, so it should be really interesting!” WSBK 2011 Rider Standings 1-Carlos Checa 145 pts 2-Marco Melandri 118 pts 3-Max Biaggi 117 pts 4-Jonathan Rea 89 pts 5-Eugene Laverty 85 pts “¦ 8-Leon Camier 58 pts
