Topeka, KS Brian Stokes, Marcus Reichert and Dan Bilansky have set records in class for Michelin Pro Series qualifying here at the Heart of America Festival of Speed in Heartland Park at Topeka, Kansas. The weather here today can be summarized as hazy and humid with temperatures at 88 degrees. Stokes qualified his Kawasaki ZX10 with a lap time of 141.155, a new Superstock Heartland Park track record for the Michelin Pro Series sanctioned by ASRA. The previous record of 143.116 set by Robert Jensen at 143.116 established in April of 2008 aboard his Suzuki 1000 under considerably cooler conditions making the nearly 2-second margin of difference all the more stunning. To add to the excitement Rockwall Racing’s Marcus Reichert of Guatemala City, Guatemala set two Michelin Pro Series class for Heartland Park in Superbike and Factory Pro Sportbike on his Yamaha 600. The Superbike record was set at 140.533 breaking the previous set by Robert Jensen on a Yamaha in April 2008 at 143.836 by more than an amazing three full seconds. The Sportbike record was set at 140.258 downing the previous class record set by Jensen in 2007 at Heartland by 3.189 seconds. In the Michelin Pro Thunderbike class Dan Bilansky topped a record set in June of 2006 by Dave Estok by almost one and half seconds with a 146.934. Estok’s old record was 148.335. Both records were set aboard Buell 1200s. This ASRA sanctioned event is Round 6 of 10 in the Michelin Pro Series for 2009 and represents the fourth season ASRA has sanctioned the event.
