Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Blake Young and Corona Extra Honda’s Neil Hodgson will both try to return from injury to ride in this weekend’s Kawasaki AMA Superbike Showdown at Infineon Raceway. Young had to have a portion of his left pinkie finger amputated after it was badly damaged in a crash during the American Superbike race May 3 at Barber Motorsports Park. “After I land in San Francisco I’m going to have it checked out by Dr. [Arthur] Ting,” Young told Roadracingworld.com Wednesday. “It’s going to depend on how much mobility I have and if I have the strength to hang onto the bars, but the plan right now is to try and ride.” Former Superbike World Champion Hodgson broke ribs, punctured a lung and separated his shoulder in a motocross training accident in March, but the British rider will try to return to action this weekend on his CBR1000RR in American Superbike. While Hodgson was recuperating he was temporarily replaced by Jake Holden, but even though Hodgson is back, Holden may continue to ride for Corona Extra Honda, according to Team Manager Ron Heben. “The details are still being worked out,” Heben told Roadracingworld.com Thursday in the paddock at Infineon Raceway, “but the plan is for Jake to ride his own CBR1000RR in Corona colors.” At Barber, Holden said his personal Honda racebike was being prepared by Hypercycle’s Carry Andrew.
