Upper Arlington, OH June 16, 2016– Bloomington Harley-Davidson will host the 2nd Annual “Taste of Freedom” poker run on Sunday, June 19th to honor local veterans with the support of Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) Chapter 14-1. Funds raised will help support VETMotorsports, a 501(3)(c) charity that honors and empowers injured warfighters through active participation in motorsports.
The event, which will run from 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM at the West Gourley Pike dealership, is open to the public and will run in conjunction with the Taste of Bloomington event. In addition to riding the planned route, enjoying food, beverages and live music attendees will have the chance to meet representatives from VETMotorsports and the CVMA CHapter 14-1 and enter to win prizes.
The CVMA is an national organization composed of combat veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who ride motorcycles as a hobby. Their mission is to support and defend those who have defended our country and our freedoms. The CVMA’s main focus is to support veteran based charities and help veteran care facilities provide key services such as; warm meals, clothing, shelter, and guidance, or simply to say “Thank You” and “Welcome Home”.
“We’re excited to be hosting this event for the second year in a row. during the Taste of Bloomington, to collaborate with CVMA Chapter 14-1, and help raise funds for local veterans organizations,” said Bloomington Harley-Davidson’s Marketing Manager Jim Markland. “We’re excited to have VETMotorsports return, which is honoring and empowering injured veterans through motorcycle racing and other forms of motorsports.”
The Columbus, Ohio based 501(c)3 embeds injured war veterans in professional motorsport racing teams nationwide, spending less than 10% of the funds it receives from charitable donations on administrative costs and overhead. This is largely due to its entirely volunteer staff, volunteer professional assistance, and commitment to focus on combat stress recovery efforts.
“The VETMotorsports program assisted injured warfighters from the Indianapolis area 2015, and plans on assisting veterans in the Fort Wayne area in 2016. We have positively affected the lives of over 130 injured warfighters and caregivers nationwide,” said VETMotorsports Founder Peter Cline. “Our mission is to make more opportunities available to more veterans, and events like this one help us get the word out, raise money and recruit new volunteers and injured warfighter participants. We can’t thank Bloomington Harley-Davidson and the CVMA Chapter 14-1 enough for their support and their commitment to the veteran community.”
