BMW BMP Elf 99 holds back SERT and Michelin PRT at Bol d’Or qualifications One BMW, one Suzuki, one Honda, one Kawasaki and one Yamaha are all within just more than one second”¦ The Bol d’Or qualifications at Magny Cours, fourth round of the 2010 Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship, testify once again how strong the competition is in endurance racing. Like yesterday, the official BMW of team BMP Elf 99 with Sébastien Gimbert, Erwan Nigon and Matthieu Lagrive maintains its leading position with a best average time of 1’41.083. In fourth place after yesterday’s qualifications, the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team moved back to their real potential. Vincent Philippe, Daisaku Sakai and Freddy Foray placed the official Suzuki on second place of the provisional starting grid. Just behind them are William Costes, Hugo Marchand and Josep Monge riding the Honda Michelin Power Research Team and the GSR Kawasaki of Julien Da Costa, Olivier Four and Gregory Leblanc. Yamaha Austria Racing Team is fifth, just ahead of the best Superstock machine, the Junior Team Suzuki LMS of Julien Enjolras, Lucas de Carolis and Baptiste Guittet. Four other Superstock machines are qualified in the top 20. The Suzuki Qatar Endurance Racing Team, the one of Starteam 67, the BMW Boening Penz 13 Racing and the Suzuki No Limits will then enter this afternoon Superpole, which will reallocate the first twenty spots on the starting grid. Among the Superpole contenders are also the Honda National Motos, despite an engine failure this morning during the qualifications, and the Yamaha France GMT 94 Ipone, which is still working to adjust the setting of the bike to the Michelin tyres. The Metiss, entered in the Open class, managed to get the fourteenth place. This bike is easy to recognise with its front-end double triangle system instead of the traditional fork. The first Superpole session is scheduled at 3:15 pm at Magny-Cours. To follow the Superpole and the race live, log on www.fim-live.com/fr/sport/endurance and www.orion-timing.com/results.htm
