American Bobby Fong, age 25, will race an Agro-On-Benjan Kawasaki ZX-10R during Round Six of the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup September 16-18 at EuroSpeedway Lausitz, in Germany.
Fong, who currently sits third in the MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 Championship and seventh in the MotoAmerica Superbike point standings with two races remaining, said, “MotoAmerica got an email from the team manager. Their rider, Bryan Staring, got hurt at the beginning of the year, and they were looking for a substitute. I was available and started emailing back and forth with the team and worked out this deal.”
Fong made his comments exclusively to Roadracingworld.com from Germany, where he is currently in the middle of a two-day, multi-team test at EuroSpeedway.
Lap times from the test are not being made public by Dorna WSBK or the track, but Fong said, “I’m doing pretty good so far. I’ve got a teammate and I’m faster than my teammate, but we’ve still got a ways to go. This bike is completely different than my Quicksilver Latus Motors Racing Kawasaki. It has different suspension, different tires and it’s a different crew, a Dutch crew. But so far we’re one second off the fastest Superstock guy here, which is not too bad for the first day.”
Fong will finish the MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 season September 9-11 at New Jersey Motorsports Park, before flying back to Germany for his fill-in ride with Agro-On-Benjan Kawasaki the following weekend in Germany.
