Vintage Motorcycle Racing at Miller Motorsports Park This Weekend Schedule includes two-man sidecars, vintage motorcycle show TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (August 28, 2012) – The seventh annual Bonneville Vintage Grand Prix, featuring the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHMRA), will take place this weekend, Sept. 1-2, at Miller Motorsports Park. One of the longest-running events held at MMP, this Labor Day celebration of two-wheeled sport has grown into somewhat of a tradition among motorcycle enthusiasts throughout the Intermountain West. It has quietly but steadily grown in popularity – fueled, in large part, by word of mouth – and is renowned for its laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere and the camaraderie among its participants. The machines in competition trace the history of the sport from the 1930s to the 1980s. This weekend’s schedule includes practice sessions on Friday, followed by racing on both Saturday and Sunday, all on the 2.2-mile East Course. Included in the event will be the extremely popular Le Mans-start “Battle of the CB-160s” race. To start this race, the 30-40 racers must run across the track to a “bike holder,” bump-start their motorcycle then battle for the lead. Also included will be two rounds of vintage and modern sidecar racing with the Superside America Sidecar Championship and Sidecar Racers Association West Inc. Race Series, the first and only sidecar road series at MMP. Off the track, Saturday’s Motorcycle Classics Vintage Motorcycle Show will feature an unusual collection of vintage bikes, including early Vincents, Nortons, Triumphs, Indians and Ducatis, etc. The featured marque this year will be “Café Racers.” Vendors, a swap meet and “Sell Your Bike Corral” will be part of the event as well. Admission on Friday is free to everyone. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday are priced at $10/day or $15/weekend for adults. Kids aged 12 and under are admitted free of charge. Military personnel are eligible for a 25-percent discount on tickets.
