TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH “” For motorcycle racing enthusiasts, this weekend’s Bike Fest at Miller Motorsports Park will be a chance to turn back the hands of time. On Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and 5, the historic racing machines of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) will host the fifth annual Bonneville Vintage Grand Prix on the East Course of the main track. Among the highlights will be a Le Mans-start race for Honda CB160s, and the always-amazing two-man sidecars, with the passenger (known as “the monkey”) shifting their body from side to side, sometimes hanging completely off the machine, to maximize traction through the corners. There will be 11 races on each day, with motorcycles ranging in age from the 1930s to the 1980s. Each day’s schedule includes practice from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with racing scheduled to start at noon. While AHRMA is racing on the East Course, MillerMotorsportsPark’s own amateur motorcycle road racing series, the Plaza Cycle Masters of the Mountains, will race on the West Course, featuring some of the top contemporary amateur racers from throughout the western United States competing in 19 different classes. Off-track attractions include the Motorcycle Classics magazine Concours d’Elegance and a swap meet. Tickets for Bike Fest are priced at $11 on Saturday and Sunday for adults. Friday admission is free to everyone, and kids 12 and under are free on Saturday and Sunday.
