After winning the opening round of the 2010 Bridgestone WERA National Endurance Championship March 13 at Roebling Road Raceway, Ben Bostrom and his 18-year-old protégé Chris Clark have agreed to run the entire season on Team Zyvax 2’s Dunlop-shod, Graves Motorsports-supported Yamaha YZF-R1. “We’re just trying to help pump up the series a little this year,” said Team Zyvax Owner J.B. Layman told Roadracingworld.com. “The series lost a few teams over the off-season, but we also had about 10 new teams on the grid at Roebling. But the best part of this whole deal is seeing Ben having so much fun riding the bike.” “Yeah, it’s so cool!” said former AMA Superbike and Supersport Champion Bostrom. “We’re so fortunate to have this opportunity. It’s so much fun. “And for Chris this is really valuable experience. You know as well as I do that if somebody starts young enough at this sport and gets enough seat time that they are going to do pretty well. Well, Chris has natural talent, so all of this seat time is just going to accelerate his learning curve so much. I wish I had had this opportunity when I was his age.” Considering Bostrom has spent his entire career riding on the world’s and America’s best racetracks, we asked him if he was concerned about racing at some of the club racing tracks on WERA’s calendar. “No, because I don’t have to ride hard,” said Bostrom. “I can just pick apart the track, ride at 100% where it’s good and back it off to 80% or whatever where it’s a little sketchy. But I’ve got to tell you, I loved Roebling Road. That Turn One has got to be one of the best corners in America. I’m sure there’s going to be some tracks with some no-crash corners, but I know there’s going to be some more great corners like that one.” Team Zyvax previously announced that it would field Dane Westby and Clinton Seller on a Graves-backed, Dunlop-equipped Yamaha YZF-R6 in the Mediumweight Superbike class of the Bridgestone WERA National Endurance Championship.
