ANTHONY WEST CONTINUES TO LEAD BRAZILIAN SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP HEADING INTO THIRD ROUND
Round 3 Interlagos, Brazil
After the first two rounds of the Brazilian Superbike Championship, Ant West and KRT-Brasil continue to lead the 2019 championship.
The second round of the championship saw Ant West qualified fourth and on the second row after a red flag shortened qualifying session just as he was about to start his time attack. Sunday morning the skies opened up with heavy rain for the first time all weekend and Ant headed the wet session in P1, two seconds clear of P2 and five seconds clear of P3. Ant and the team were confident of their setup for a wet race. After warm up, the sky stayed overcast but the rain stopped falling and a dry line seemed to be forming. The team brought slicks to the grid but ultimately stayed on wets as the safer option. Only Granado opted for slicks. As the lights went out, Ant rocketed to the lead and held it until the dry line emerged and Granado, on slicks, was able to reel him in. Granada pulled away and Ant was focused on earning maximum points towards the championship. Ant was able to continue in second until an engine problem forced him to slow down and nurse the bike home in third and preserve his championship lead. The bike stopped on the cool down lap after receiving the checkered flag.

I’m looking forward to getting back on my KRT-Brasil ZX-10R. The guys at JC Racing have been working hard at the workshop to get the bike prepared. We have some new settings to try on Thursday to try and get more grip out of the spec Pirelli and I can’t wait to get back to racing.
