PBM And Be Wiser Insurance – Announcement
Following a four-year association which has seen them land two British Superbike Championships whilst currently leading the 2019 series, Penrith-based multiple British Superbike champions, Paul Bird Motorsport, will conclude its partnership with sponsors Be Wiser Insurance at the end of the season.
The distinctive red branding with the owl logos has been synonymous with the Cumbrian team in British Superbikes, this year with Scott Redding and Josh Brookes on the Be Wiser Ducati Panigale V4Rs, as well as adorning the cars driven by teenage prodigy Frank Bird in Formula Renault Eurocup and the Motorsport News MSVR Circuit Rally Championship.
Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne won back to back titles for the Be Wiser Ducati team at BSB in 2016 and 2017 whilst other successes include Glenn Irwin’s Superbike victories at both the North West 200 and the Macau Grand Prix during the tenure.
Former GP rider Scott Redding currently leads the Bennetts British Superbike Championship by 20 points for Be Wiser Ducati ahead of Australian team-mate Josh Brookes. The pair have won 11 of the 15 races held so far this season.
Paul Bird, Team Owner: “It’s been a delight working with the team at Be Wiser Insurance over the past four years and we thank them for their support. Some of our greatest successes have been with Be Wiser as title sponsors and whilst we are sad that they are no longer continuing their association, we understand the commercial reasons for their decision and wish them well for the future. It also allows the opportunity for another brand to become title sponsors, so our commercial team and partners are now working on that as a priority for 2020 and beyond.”
Andy Dunkerley of Be Wiser: “We have thoroughly enjoyed our relationship with PBM who have demonstrated the highest level of professionalism during our sponsorship years by helping to promote our brand name both within and outside of the British Superbike arena. Our initial plan was for a three-year sponsorship deal, however the success that we have enjoyed with PBM was such that we extended into a fourth year for the current 2019 season. We are hopeful of another successful championship result at the culmination of the 2019 season and we wish PBM continued success in 2020 and beyond”.
