ITV TO BROADCAST BRITISH SUPERBIKES UNTIL 2013 The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship (BSB), widely regarded as the world’s leading domestic motorcycle racing series will, for the next three years continue to be screened extensively across the ITV free-to-air network following a contract extension announced today (25 September) by BSB commercial rights holder MotorSport Vision. One-hour highlights programmes from each of the twelve BSB events will be shown on ITV 4 on the Wednesday evening after the race weekend and then repeated on Saturday afternoons. Each programme will have a further repeat on ITV 1, as well as being available free to view on the ITV Player on itv.com. The BSB shows, produced by ITV Sport, will feature the best highlights action from the previous weekend’s Superbike races, together with grid walks, post race interviews, behind the scenes features and exclusive competitions. Niall Sloane, ITV Controller of Sport, said: “I’m delighted that ITV will be the free-to-air home of British Superbikes for the next three years. The series, with its new format continues to provide high quality racing with plenty of drama and thrills. The personalities and skill of the riders ensures compelling viewing throughout the season.” Stuart Higgs, BSB Series Director, said: “As the 2010 season reaches its thrilling conclusion it’s great to be able to confirm our long term broadcast plans and that BSB is firmly established within the ITV Sport portfolio.” The title deciding final round of the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship takes place at Oulton Park on 9/10th October.
