STIHL BLOWS AWAY THE OPPOSITION WITH FIFTH YEAR OF BRITISH SUPERBIKE SPONSORSHIP Powering into 2012, outdoor power tool company STIHL GB has re-signed with commercial rights holder MotorSport Vision as an Official Sponsor of the 2012 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship. 2012 marks the fifth consecutive year of BSB sponsorship for STIHL and demonstrates its appreciation of the action of this high speed motorsport. Commenting on the sponsorship, Sean Larter-Conway, Marketing Manager of STIHL GB said: “The British Superbike Series is a fantastic opportunity to promote our brand to a key market. Well done to the BSB organisers who continue to build an exciting and accessible sport.” Established among builders, foresters and groundsmen for its robust and high quality outdoor power tools, STIHL is also well known among gardeners and home owners for its impressive range of petrol, electric and battery powered tools. The STIHL commitment to innovation is renowned; its developments range from major technological advances like new low-emission, fuel-efficient and self-tuning engines, to seemingly small design details that make a big difference to users. High performance products that give great results the synergy between STIHL and superbikes is clear. The 2012 British Superbike Championship will again see 26 races held across twelve rounds running from April to October; with live coverage of races broadcast on British Eurosport, plus dedicated highlights programmes shown on both British Eurosport and the ITV network. As part of its sponsorship, STIHL will continue to enjoy significant branding at all events and trackside fans can view all of the action on the STIHL giant TV. BSB visitors will be able to see the specially commissioned STIHL KTM RC8 bike taking fans and STIHL dealers for a ‘hotlap’ at each of the circuits. The STIHL Power Award, won in 2011 by Shane Byrne, gives both Superbike riders and fans the chance to win a great STIHL power tool prize (worth £500), based upon the ‘holeshot’ principle of a race – rewarding the first rider on the first lap to pass a STIHL No. 1 marker post. Meanwhile, spectators can join the fun too – their ‘holeshot’ photographs can be uploaded to the Championship website (www.britishsuperbike.com), and the best judged of all will also win a great prize of power tools. British Superbike Series Director Stuart Higgs welcomed the continuation of STIHL as an official partner: “Our ongoing relationship with such a prestigious brand as STIHL is a great endorsement to the strength and popularity of BSB. STIHL was a new brand to the sport back in 2008 and a fifth consecutive year is a demonstration of how BSB can provide a fantastic marketing and promotional platform.” For more information please visit www.britishsuperbike.com
