British Superbike: Vickers Tops Practice At Donington Park

Editorial Note: American Julian Correa was fastest in the one and only British Talent Cup practice Friday at Donington Park. Riding his Microlise Cresswell Racing Honda around the 2.5-mile circuit, the 15-year Floridian turned a 1:41.160 to top the field of 28. American Eli Banish was 13th on Friday with a time of 1:43.952 on his Fibre Tec Honda, and his American teammate Josh Raymond Jr. was 17th with a lap at 1:44.371.

Vickers holds off O’Halloran by 0.012s in Free Practice at Donington Park

Ryan Vickers was back ahead of his Bennetts British Superbike Championship rivals after the opening Free Practice sessions at Donington Park as the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider edged out Jason O’Halloran on the Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki by just 0.012s.

Vickers was able to hold on to the leading position by the narrowest of margins as O’Halloran’s penultimate lap of the day put him second overall and just 0.076s ahead of home hero Leon Haslam and the ROKiT Haslam Racing BMW Motorrad Team.

Glenn Irwin was fourth fastest on the Hager PBM Ducati as he leads the standings into tomorrow’s opening race of the weekend with Danny Kent completing the top five for McAMS Racing Yamaha.

Kyle Ryde was sixth fastest for the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing Team, holding off Christian Iddon and MasterMac Honda teammates Charlie Nesbitt and Lee Jackson.

Max Cook and Peter Hickman were inside the top twelve ahead of tomorrow’s opening race, whilst the returning Luke Mossey delivered an impressive performance on his return to the Championship. Mossey was able to complete the top twelve riders on combined times to progress directly into Omologato Superpole tomorrow on his debut with STAUFF Fluid Power Kawasaki.
