Parkalgar Honda 2011 Miguel Praia and Sam Lowes PARKALGAR HONDA has finalised its rider line-up for the 2011 World Supersport Championship with Portuguese racer Miguel Praia being joined by newly crowned British Supersport Champion Sam Lowes. Miguel will be aiming for a top 10 finish in the 2011 Championship after proving he has the pace this year, finishing with a lifetime best of sixth at Silverstone and numerous other times inside the top 10. Miguel said: “2010 has been my best ever year in the World Supersport Championship and my sixth place at Silverstone was only three-seconds behind the podium so I know I have the pace, the team and the desire to improve. Thank you to Parkalgar Honda for its faith in me and next year I want to score my first podium and be fighting in the top 10 at every race and I am sure we can do it.” Sam Lowes is on a confidence high after securing the British Championship in domineering style with a round to spare. Just turned 20-years-of-age, he is up for the World Championship challenge. He said: “It is a dream come true for me that I will be riding for Parkalgar Honda in the 2011 World Supersport Championship. This is one of the best teams in the world and is right at the front of the races week in and out. “I am under no illusions how difficult the step will be but with Parkalgar Honda I have a team that knows what to do and how to win. I can’t wait to get racing with the team and fitted to the bike. Thank you to Parkalgar Honda for having the faith in me, I will do all I can to repay that with race wins and a Championship challenge.” Simon Buckmaster, Parkalgar Honda Team Manager said: “Miguel has shown marked improvement every season he has raced with Parkalgar Honda and after showing speed and ability this year we will be looking to make him a regular top 10 runner and podium challenger in 2011. He has the ability and team behind him to do it, that is for sure. “Sam is a rider in the vein of Craig Jones and Eugene Laverty. As a team we enjoy spotting talent and bringing it through to World Championship level and we are confident he can be a race winner and title challenger in his first year with us. It will be hard work but we have what we believe is the best motorcycle in the Honda CBR600RR and the best crew to man it in the Parkalgar Honda squad. We are going into 2011 with high hopes and welcome Sam to the team.” Team Owner, Parkalgar’s Paulo Pinheiro said: “Miguel continues to improve and is the best Portuguese rider of his generation and with Parkalgar Honda he will have the opportunity to unlock more of his potential in the World Supersport Championship; he has more to come and who knows how far he can progress? “Sam is new to the team but will find a friendly, conducive and performance driven squad that will stop at nothing to win races. We look forward to challenging at the front of the 2011 Championship with him and developing his talent on the world stage.” For more information on Parkalgar Honda, Miguel Praia or Sam Lowes, visit www.parkalgarhonda.com.
