Milwaukee Yamaha’s Brookes bidding to maintain winning momentum at Cadwell Park

The Milwaukee Yamaha head to Cadwell Park for the eighth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship bidding to extend their advantage at the top of the standings as Josh Brookes bids to extend his run of four consecutive race wins.

Brookes holds a 12 point advantage at the top of the overall standings; the Australian contender has only failed to finish on the podium once this season and is determined to maintain his recent run of victories with just five races remaining before the Showdown.

Broc Parkes meanwhile will be on World Endurance Championship duties this weekend with the YART team in Oschersleben.

Josh Brookes

“It was really important for us to have the test last week and that was really promising, because without that I would have gone to the event optimistic but you can’t carry too much from circuits like Brands Hatch and Thruxton to Cadwell Park because they are so different. However the test was really positive and that is where I have gained the most confidence ahead of this weekend.

“I think having the test has to give us the upper hand on the teams that haven’t tested – it has to because you have recent knowledge and experience to bring into the weekend so that has to be an advantage.

“I think drawing closer to the Showdown I do expect to see some other riders giving it everything to try and bridge that gap in the points and that fight will be throughout the field, there could be some surprises. Am I a target as championship leader? For sure to Shakey I imagine I am certainly a target because of the recent races and to be in front in the standings at this point. I don’t think anyone else will have as much of a focus on me – they will be going for the biggest points score they can possibly get.”
