Cupertino, Ca – The Bruce Transportation Group, assisted by Ducati North America and BCM Ducati of Laconia, New Hampshire are pleased to announce their return to the ranks of Professional Roadracing in America. They will enter the Grand Sport Twins class in the Sun Trust Moto ST 8 hours of Daytona on a Ducati PS1000 Sport Classic.
The Bruce Transportation Group Team is well known for competing at the highest levels of American road racing with an impressive pedigree of wins and competition in AMA Supersport, Superstock and Formula Extreme with riders such as Alex Gobert, Roger Lee Hayden, Josh Hayes and Jake Zemke. Bruce Lyskawa, a former racer himself, is the team’s founder and owner and is widely known as a fierce competitor and successful developer of talent in the racing community.
While not actively competing on the national level for several years, Lyskawa has stayed connected to the racing community with a homegrown rider development project consisting of his son Brent, age 16, and longtime friend and riding partner Corey Hildebrand, also age 16. Brent and Corey have been racing for 2 years in the competitive Loudon Road Racing Series, competing mostly at Laconia events and riding in a number of USGPRU 125 class events. Brent won the 125cc amateur title in 2006 with Corey winning it in 2007 at Laconia.
Although new to road racing, Brent and Corey have won numerous national and northeastern regional dirt track titles as teens and pre-teens. Their learning curve has been accelerated with the help of longtime Penguin Racing School race instructor, wily Laconia veteran and Ducati North America Area Sales Manager Jason Routhier–who will be joining the team as anchor rider for the 8 hours of Daytona.
Says Routhier, “The guys have really been coming along well in the last couple of seasons. They are to the point where they can run at the front in our events regularly. I felt it was time for them to take it up a step and get some experience with a completely different type of bike and event on a national level.
“I raced in the inaugural 8 hour race last year on a Ducati Paul Smart PS1000 and, although we had some trouble with the dyno test after the race (we were just a scant 1/2 HP over the class limit), I really enjoyed the experience and felt this would be the perfect opportunity for riders wanting to take to the national stage. I really feel that, with the combination of these talented young riders, the knowledge and professionalism of Bruce, and the enthusiasm of the Wyo-Tech student pit crew, we can run at the front.”
The bike is a 2006 Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE provided to the Team by Ducati North America. It was built by Matt Spencer of Salt Lake Motorsports, raced in the C.T. class of the Canadian Superbike series and prepared for this event by the noted Ducati tuner BCM Motorsports.
