California Roadrace Association 2022 Round 3 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park:  Bryce Prince, Brenden Ketelsen, Jasmine Nichols Shine!

(Buttonwillow, CA) – California Roadrace Association (CRA) hosted the third round of the 2022 season at Buttonwillow Raceway Park July 23-24; sponsored by Dunlop Motorcycle Tires & Racer’s Edge Performance. Riders braved the heat which resulted in several exciting races running Configuration 1 in the clockwise direction. It was a bit of a departure for most racers as Config 13 is the standard most are accustomed to.

CRA’s “Racers First” focus continued this weekend with custom trophies for all race classes, podium celebrations, racer payouts and Fosters Freeze (Sanger, CA) hosting our first ever Saturday night Ice Cream Social along with our BBQ festivities. The ice cream was the perfect ending to a very hot day of racing.

“Peak temps hit 105 F trackside and I believe our racers felt the heat mirrored the energy in the paddock all weekend,” said CRA Co-Founder Lyle Geoffrey Brown.

Racing action started off with Jack Bakken, on his Wawa Racing BMW S1000RR, taking the win in the 18-lap 61DTC 1000GT race. He was followed in second place by a KTM 1290 Super Duke R-mounted by Eric Gulbransen and Steve Zoumaras aboard his Kawasaki ZX-10R in third.

Bryce Prince showed up on his BPR Tuning Yamaha R1 and dominated the weekend in  each class he entered. He took first in the TrackDaz Expert 1000 Superbike over Bakken on his Wawa Racing BMW S1000RR. Prince continued his victory streak taking P1 in the RIDERZLAW Gold Cup from pole position, with a blistering pace and best lap time of 1:48.796 over Brenden Ketelsen on his Graves Kawasaki ZX-6R. Prince completed the trifecta with a first in CTML Consultants Expert 1000 Supersport.

Ketelsen, on board his Graves Kawasaki ZX-6R, was ready for battle. He took wins in Blud Lubricants Expert 600 Supersport and Carters@theTrack Expert 600 Superbike over Declan Van Rosmalen and Keir Leonhardt, both riding Yamaha R6’s. In the 61DTC 600 GT 18-lap race, Ketelsen came in for the win with Cody Wyman on his Yamaha YZF-R7 edging out Declan for second place in the 600 GT Race.

Jasmine Nicols and Jesse Sims put on an absolute clinic this weekend racing every class their Ninja 400s were legal to enter. These two scrapped from start to finish! Nicols and Sims split wins in Feel Like a Pro 400 Superbike and Supersport along with Sims taking first over Nicols in the 16-lap Feel Like a Pro 400GT race. Nicols took the win in the Bellissimoto Twins GrandPix over Sims, In the Bellissimoto Battle of the Twins race, Justin Boronaro clinched first on board his Aprilia 660 with Sims and Nicols in tow.

“CRA wants to thank every racer and sponsor that supports and continues to support the club. Without their involvement, the vision of CRA would be unattainable. Us four founders believe in this project with every ounce of our being and to see it coming to fruition is astounding. We still have a long road ahead of us and will continue to grow and support club racing to the best of our ability,” said CRA Co-Founder Gigi Chow.

Round 4 of CRA competition will be held the weekend of August 20-21 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on the super exciting and fast race Configuration 26 in counterclockwise direction.
