Keith Code welcomed SoCal SAE members into his California Superbike School shop and explained what goes into training riders. He showed off his self-developed training bikes, and explained how each one aided in the development of particular rider skills. Keith has the ability to break down the act of riding into a number of discrete actions; each action, working together, to create the act of riding a motorcycle. He uses his training bikes to focus on a number of those actions, creating the opportunity to provide immediate feedback on the rider’s technique. He also uses the bikes to overcome the mental blocks that riders can develop like false assumptions and fears. Keith uses his training bikes to recreate situations that reduce the risk to the rider… thus a rider can confront his fears and overcome them to improve his abilities. SoCal SAE would like to thank Keith Code, his son Dylan, and all of his staff for providing SAE members with an excellent opportunity to discuss this highly technical and highly emotional subject.
