Szoke shakes down new equipment at RACE Superseries Regional Round #2 Wiping the sleep from their eyes, Szoke and his crew pulled into Shannonville Motorsport Park in Belleville ON at 3am Thursday morning, eager to test their new Waznie Racing Ciclo Werks BMC DeWildt Hondas. It was hard to believe that just the evening before, the Superbike was heat-cycling on the dyno, while the team quickly loaded the trailer. This was the perfect opportunity to get some much needed testing time before the Canadian National Series Superbike and Sportbike title defense starts in Mirabel Quebec May 28th – 30th. Szoke was prepared to shake the cobwebs off and test not only the new CBR1000RR and CBR600RR, but also to get familiar with his new (old) crew from Fast Company. Luckily Jordan has worked with Scott Miller in the past, the amalgamation was very comfortable. “Scott and I work very well together, he understands what we need to do to make a winning combo of rider and machine.” says Szoke. Sunday’s races had their ups and downs for Jordan. A stellar performance in Pro 600 earns him yet another spot on the podium in 2nd place. “On a new equipment, I am very proud of what we have been able to accomplish.” smiles Szoke “I haven’t ridden since last September, and I also haven’t seen the long track configuration since 06, yet we still managed to get under the lap record. With all the major changes to crew, rider and bike, and the minimal amount of time we had to do it in, I am more than happy with our results.” A faulty shift rod got the better of him during Pro Superbike and forced an early retirement to hot pits. “I am most disappointed we couldn’t get more laps in, we made some changes to the Superbike I really wanted to try, but I guess that will have to wait until Mirabel.” responds Szoke. “It is one of the fastest bikes I have ever ridden I can’t wait to get back on it.” In asking Szoke how he felt about the weekend he responds, “We’re used the weekend to get our equipment and crew ready, I feel we have accomplished that.” Watch for Szoke defending both his titles at Round #1 of the Canadian National Championships in Mirabel Que Canada on May 28 – 30.
