Canadian Team Looks to Shatter Land Speed Record in August 2008 Motorcycle SUPERSHOW Sponsors Attempt to Break 50 Year Record (Toronto, Canada) – More than 50 years ago, William Hertz rode a supercharged NSU streamlined machine into the history books as he set the land speed record for 500cc motorcycles at 339km/h. To this day that record has not been broken – despite numerous attempts – but one Canadian team plans to change that this coming August at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. This amazing vehicle, the team that created it and the rider who plans to make history in it was on display during the North American International Motorcycle SUPERSHOW in January 2009 at the Toronto International Centre. Bar Hodgson, Producer of the Motorcycle SUPERSHOW, former Drag Racing Champion and Road Racer, will be the rider for 2008 at Bonneville Speed Week in August, attempting to break the record by exceeding 339km/h. The streamliner will carry the SUPERSHOW name and a large Canadian fan contingent is expected to make the trip to cheer on the 70 year old pilot. The streamliner itself was built, and is owned by, the Windsor-based ‘Bob Williams Team Arrow Racing’, a six year veteran of the Bonneville Salt Flat record runs and holder of the World Record for 650cc motorcycles at 339.134km/h. In 2006, the Team attempted to break the 500cc record and had an amazing one way run of more than 360km/h, however the bike unfortunately suffered a blown tire on the way back. Breaking the top speed requires a two way run, but the experience proved to Team Arrow Racing that the record is just within their reach. Established in 1976, the SUPERSHOW is North America’s largest consumer motorcycle show. Produced by Bar Hodgson Productions Inc, the SUPERSHOW is dedicated to presenting the finest the motorcycle industry has to offer for every type of motorcycle enthusiast, in Seven Halls of the International Centre.
